Overview

The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager and Finance Manager, the Accounts Officer will be responsible for accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, and day-to-day finance support. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the confidence to deal with customer and supplier queries.

Key Responsibilities

Post supplier invoices, credit notes, and expenses in Sage 50, ensuring correct nominal and VAT coding.

Maintain accounts payable records, reconcile supplier statements, and handle supplier queries.

Allocate customer receipts, manage unmatched items, and process multi-currency transactions.

Monitor aged debtors and creditors and carry out proactive credit control.

Prepare sales invoices, customer statements, and respond to billing queries.

Perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts and currencies.

Support month-end processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Extract reports and accrual data from FBO One to support handling-related accounting.

Maintain organised electronic filing and audit-ready documentation.

Assist with management accounts and finance reporting as required.

Identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting, and support wider finance projects as required.

Carry out any other legitimate duties required for the smooth running of the company.

Requirements
  • Good working knowledge of Sage 50 (or similar accounting software).

  • Highly competent in the use of MS Office and databases.

  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and logical problem-solving ability.

  • Confident communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work flexibly during peak periods.

Education and Experience
  • Progress toward or completion of an accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, or equivalent).
